"Oh that's right!" is a phrase frequently heard from Lydia these days. One particular time is memorable enough to share...
After eating our fill of turkey on Thurs. the kids and I planned to go our West to visit Carissa and Ike for the day. I decided to get up before the sun rose and head out so I changed the kids and left them in their PJs for the trip over. As I picked Lydia up out of bed she laid her little taggie blanket on my shoulder
and said, "Where we going? Going to Maja's today?"
I responded, "No we are going to visit Auntie Carissa and Uncle Ike."
She said, "We going for a walk?"
I said, "No we are going for a car ride."
Then to complete the conversation she said, "Oh that's right!"
That just put a smile on my face for the rest of the day!!
We did enjoy a nice trip out West with shopping, good food, and a must needed ride on Ike's restored toy John Deere tractor. Elijah even surprised me -he went from standing next to it to sitting on it in about two seconds! Boys and their tractors!!

I am Thankful!
So much to be thankful 4, here is a short list...
4 the roof over my head and a husband who appreciates my need to decorate
4 family that liked my pumpkin cheese cake today
4 a daughter who has so much energy she can't just burn it off running around, but also adds an ear piercing scream
4 a son who loves to climb the stairs, out of his high chair, and into my arms
4 the community whom shares their joy and pain
4 my friends that make me laugh and smile
4 our wonderful daycare lady
4 a job that I make useful my planning and organizing skills
4 our God above!

Five Days of Working! WOW!
This week has been CRAZY!! To start out we attended the funeral of our dear friend Adam. Though the funeral was difficult to attend as we lost a friend and great member of our community it was the most up lifting funeral I have ever been to; the music was comtemporary Christian and celebrated Adam's life in such a great way. My prayers are with his family always!
Then Charlie and I took the afternoon to get more things moved to our place. Yes that's right we have more stuff even still to move which doesn't mean we will keep it all, but we are bringing it all to our garage to sort - throw, donate and keep. As Charlie pointed out it seems like we have so much, but it is partly because we are going from a three bedroom to a two bedroom with much less space. I see it as a good thing to purge the stuff we don't really need or use and try to simplifiy.
Tuesday Eli went in to the doctor for pink eye which we already had Lydia in at urgent care Friday evening to get looked at so now they both have drops. It's lots of fun holding them down to get their drops in, not! Eli came with me to work for the rest of the afternoon and slept almost the whole time. I got lots done!!
Wednesday I traveled to the St.Paul campus and then we went to visit my Gpa Dahms in the hospital. Lots of driving, but it was well worth it. Gpa is in good spirits and I think he enjoyed seeing the kids. :)
Thursday Lydia had the last day of this session of gymnastics and then spent the afternoon at daycare while I worked. She loves gymnastics so much that we signed her up for the next session and are ready to put in a home gym ie. couch cushions, tunnels, mini trampoline. She even got a "new" leotard thanks to the Frey girls :)
Friday I tried my skills at teaching Kindergarten. It was fun to sub for Miss Eickler and her very energetic class. They gave me much to smile about! Then my aunt and cousin came over so Charlie and I could go out on a date. By the time we left for Mankato the rain had started and by the time we got home at midnight the snow was upon us. We woke to at least 5 inchs already on the ground! While Lydia and Sara enjoyed playing in the snow Charlie called me with the bad news that the structure over our feed bunk came down under the weight of 12 inches of snow and ice. It sure is heavy, wet stuff! Everyone is safe and there was no damage to the new head locks, but now it will be a quick rebuild with winter upon us. I enjoyed my lazy day and am still in my pjs, but things took a turn for the worst during the eight o'clock hour when Lydia threw up twice. YUK! Cleaning up puke is the worst job ever!! Poor thing is wiped out and now sleeping. Hopefully it will be a peaceful night and tomorrow will be a great start to a new week...

I LOVE Halloween!
Halloween has always been a fun holiday as a teacher because there are so many fun things to make and learn about, but now with my own kids it is even better. We don't just enjoy one day of celebrating it is a whole week of parties...
First dressing up event was for ECFE - Lydia was super excited to wear her ladybug costume, but Eli wasn't so sure. He on the other hand loved trying to eat the pumpkin. :)
Then on Friday we traveled to Nicollet for their ECFE party. Totally free event with crafts, food, face painting, games, and don't forget the Trick-or-Treating. The kids really enjoyed it and Charlie was able to get things done on the farm early enough to join us. YEAH!
Saturday was a full day by starting out with the Halloween Fun Run & Walk. Always wanted to participate so this year two of my friends and I planned to walk with our kids. Unfortunately one wasn't feeling well, but two of us did make it. We cut out half way through which was lucky because we would have been changing poopy diapers in some one's lawn if we would have tried to do the whole 3 miles. Maybe next year!
Next we celebrated our neighbor girls birthday. Lydia experienced her first birthday party with games, a pinata, and way too much candy. It was really fun and Lydia enjoyed playing with all the kids.
To end the evening we went to my brother-in-law and sister-in-laws. Jen planned an adorable treasure hunt which had the kids sliding down the slide, running around the trees, saying hi to the ghosts, and finding the pumpkins. They each got a treat bag and proceeded to eat far too much candy as all of us adults eat way too much too!!
On Sunday we slept off our candy stupor and then went trick-or-treating at Gma&Gpa's. It is wonderful being so close to family!!
We have continued our celebrating with dressing up all week and Lydia really wanted to sit on the pumpkin shape at dance this week, but we are working at the next holiday with some Thanksgiving books from the library...
