Stayed in One Outfit All Day...

Elijah as previously mentioned has a tendency to catch one off guard while changing him so we usually go through at least a couple outfits a day just from diaper incidences, but lately he has also been spitting up which increases the laundry pile as well. Alleluia!! We made it all day yesterday without needing an outfit change! Isn't it amazing the things that get you excited as a parent?

This week we enjoyed having my Mom stay with us. It has been such a blessing having her and my mother-in-law help out while I am suppose to limit my lifting due to having a c-section!! We made cookies one night which was fun having Lydia help dump the ingredients in the bowl and put the dough on the pan. While the cookies were baking we took out her cookie dough play set from Christmas. Then we obviously enjoyed the fruits of our labor with some milk. Even Charlie agreed that they were good except I have a problem getting cookies to be soft so I have challenged him to make the next batch and see how soft he can get them.

Big Sister Lydia is also making us smile and some times pull out our hair with her constant "I DO IT". I put that in all uppercase because she is very convincing that she can "do it". She is little miss independent and such a good helper when she wants to be. Our little girl is growing up :( How fast that happens. Having Eli just shows us more and more how quickly they go from newborn to almost 2 years old.

Other exciting news in our world - the COLTS WON!!! Yesterday we were all sporting our royal blue which I have never really thought about in terms of us not supporting the home team. It was a little strange walking around Cabela's wearing the wrong colors. I wonder what the Vikings fans were thinking? But as redemption we were cheering for the Vikings last night. How cool would that have been to watch them in the Super Bowl!! After they lost Charlie proclaimed, "Bummer they would have been easier for the Colts to beat!" :)

Week Number Two

The Yost Clan is out in Pipestone this weekend enjoying the company of Carissa and Ike, but much has happen in our second week as a family of four...

Elijah Report -
  • Eli has been a good sleeper between feedings and usually only wakes at night to eat. YEAH!! I have enjoyed having him at arms length reach in the co-sleeper at our house and now at Carissa and Ike's he is enjoying a cozy bed in one of Ike's dresser drawers. Ike wasn't so sure about my sanity when I asked for a drawer because he thought we were going to close him in the dresser :)

  • Feeding is going good which is obvious because the little guy weighed in at 9# 4 oz. on Thursday at his 2 week appointment. The doctor said he looks great!!
  • Still trying to adjust to having a boy when changing diapers. One of my friends even sent us some Pee Tee pees to help prevent spraying, but yesterday Eli peed on his own head. Oops!

Lydia Update -

  • She loved having Gma Linda stay with us. They enjoyed playing with cars, reading books, and playing with her barn.
  • Broccoli is one of her favorite foods and she was lucky enough to have Gma LuAnn prepare it for dinner on Wednesday night when we arrived in town for 2 week appointments. She also was lucky enough to have Papa take her out to the barn to look at the new lamb that arrived last week.
  • "Elijah" is one of her favorite words. She obviously loves her brother; taking his hat off to see his hair, finding his toes, and wanting to hold him are at the top of her list these days.
  • Lydia has been a great helper especially with the dishes which she demonstrated for Ike and Carissa last night.

Daddy and Mommy News -
  • My 2 week check-up went well. I have been given the go ahead to drive again which I tested out on the way to Pipestone on the snow covered roads. Not fun! The doctor also told me that I should continue trying not to lift Lydia too much for another couple of weeks. That makes it difficult, but Linda sure helped last week and my mom will be helping out this coming week. What would we do without family?
  • Charlie is very excited that the Colts won their game tonight!! We are hoping to be watching them in the Super Bowl come February against the Vikings.

One Week Old

Elijah Andrew Yost was born one week ago today!!! He weighed 8 lbs. 4 oz. and was 21 inches long. The surgury went well and we enjoyed our stay at the hospital. Big sister spent the 3 days with Grandmas and Grandpas, but it is evident that we were missed. She now loves holding Eli, patting him, and praying with him. We left the hospital with concerns about his weight lose but the little man has almost gained 10 oz. in three days. Yay! Weare now heading home to St.Charles and will enjoy a couple of weeks worth of help from mine and Charlie's moms.
