Potential Blog Titles

It seems this week that I have too much to write about, so I will start with a title and then share about it's meaning -

Tissue Please!!

On Saturday morning while Lydia was kindly letting us lounge around in bed she found one of her favorite "toys", the tissue box. Now in previous encounters I find all of the tissues strewn around on the floor, so much to my surprise she has advanced in her tissue pulling skills. She would pull out a tissue and then blow her nose or at least blow a little air on it. It was the cutest darn thing and it just makes you wonder how many other things she watches us do and we don't even think about it.

Squatting = poop

For the second time now Lydia has pooped in the bathtub! EEW! GROSS!! But the good news is that we have figured out the sign to indicate when this type of thing is going to happen. When she won't sit down in the tub which she loves and she just squats in the water, you can bet that something will be joining her in the water relatively soon. On to the more humorous part for me - The floating turds first happen to me a couple weeks ago and I just scooped them into the toilet and ran fresh water for her, but when it happen to Charlie on Monday he took her out of the tube and tried to pressure wash the floaters to the drain. I don't know if it was fear of poop (which doesn't make sense, he is covered in cow poop everyday) or if it was like a fun game trying to get the poop in the drain. Either way it was a good laugh!!

Daddy's Little helper

Lydia enjoys helping with the dishes or more so likes closing the door to the dishwasher. Last night she couldn't get the door closed so she decided the next best thing would be getting into the dishwasher herself. It was quite funny, take a look...

It Wasn't Me!
The other day while I was in the bathroom climbed up in her high chair. When I walked into the kitchen she was sitting their with the package of oreos in her lap. I now know not to leave her alone for too long and that oreos are bad for all of us :)

House Update!! YEAH!!
Siding and Windows are finished. Doesn't it look great? We no longer want to move because it looks so nice!

My uncle Dale worked hard this week with Charlie getting the windows stained. It really looks great! Everyone should stop by to check it out.

One problem solved...

Lydia is definitely interested in feeding herself these days. This clip shows that she is much like her Grandma LuAnn and likes dipping her pizza in things. Lydia suggests strawberry yogurt.

This weekend we loaded up the vehicles for yet another couple of nights away from home. This time we stayed in Red Wing instead of Eyota which means two nights in a hotel. Most of our previous experiences stay in a hotel have been disastrous. The first time we stayed with my parents in one room and she was screaming most of the early morning. Then back in January when Charlie started the new job, she hated sleeping in the pack'n play. And then in March when I attended a conference in the Cities she slept with us most of the night. Needless to say I was not all that excited about the possible lack of sleep, but she actually did really well... Until Saturday morning when I went to get her and she had a funky smell. Upon investigation I realized that she had thrown up and her diaper was filled with nasty goo. We got her cleaned up, but our hotel room didn't smell too pretty.

After a relaxing morning and then an enjoyable afternoon walking along the river I was thinking life was good. Problem solved, we now have a little girl who will sleep in hotel rooms and she must of just had a tummy ache, but come Monday I had a Gustavus student babysit Lydia and she threw up again. Bummer!! I HATE throwing up myself so it is amazing that I can handle it as well as I have in the last couple of days. So onto the next problem... Why is she throwing up?? Could it be teeth causing too much saliva and then when she gets over worked from crying she throws up? I just hope that she doesn't learn to puke on command. I had a student that could do that. Yuk!!! The joys of parenting :)

On Saturday Charlie, Lydia and I enjoyed lunch down by the river and then a walk. Lydia wasn't so sure about wearing Daddy's hat. It's time to get a new sun hat. Maybe it will finally warm up!!

Hoppy Easter!!

"Look at Me!!" Our big girl is now interested in wearing shoes, walking a lot on her own and being outdoors. Praise the Lord that the weather is finally getting nice. I am so excited to get nightly walks in with Lydia and our dog, Bandit.

Our lovely house has made a great home to start our family, but it is time for the blue siding to go. Now you see it...

Now you don't. Charlie and friends spent Friday tearing siding off the house.

The day's work was completed by wrapping the house.
After lots of work time Charlie needed some relaxing and who better to relax with than Lydia.

Alleluia!! He is Risen!!

The Easter bunny brought Lydia eggs filled with yummy snacks. They were perfect to take with us to church, but mommy didn't consider the roll factor as they get dropped on the floor. The kind people in front of us had some fetching to do. :)

After church we headed to Redwood Falls for great food, conversation, and an egg hunt. Lydia didn't quite understand the concept of picking up the eggs, but she sure liked the candy.

Great Aunt Barb got each of the kids bubble wands which were enjoyed by all ages.

Lydia will obviously be an avid cleaner when she grows up because she wanted to sweep the wand on the grass.

Finally she understood the concept and made a few bubbles.

Resurrection Buns

I having been finding great Lent ideas online, but now I can actually share one that I found in all my teacher resources. This is a cute idea for Easter morning to explain how Jesus’ tomb was empty when the women went to prepare the body. They found it empty! Alleluia!! When the biscuit bakes, the marshmallow melts and disappears, leaving a hollow biscuit just like the tomb.

Ingredients –
1 roll refrigerator biscuits
1 large marshmallow for each biscuit
melted butter
sugar and cinnamon mixture

Wrap one biscuit around one marshmallow. Dip in melted butter and roll in cinnamon/sugar mixture.

Back as directed on the biscuit package.

Dancing Queen

Oh, there is so much to share and so little time. I am sitting at school on a Monday evening at 7:40, just getting done with a dad's night event, thinking about how much fun Charlie is going to have coming to a night of dancing, donuts, and projects when Lydia is in Kindergarten. My students seemed to enjoy it and I think even the dads/Granddads enjoyed being ambushed by dancing. Thanks to my mom I am able to do things like this and not worry about Lydia although the poor girl has been through the ringer with illness lately. Last Tues. I got a call saying that she had a fever so we went to the doctor and they said "Well, she has a cold." I just wanted to say "Do you have to charge me because I could have told you that". Either way on Thurs. we found out that she actually has Strep Throat. Finally we had a reason for the fever and crabbiness, but she also has had a horrible cough and now today I think she has a yeast infection. To make a long story short, we need your prays for good health because Charlie and I have been under the weather too. Speaking of under the weather maybe it is the weather that is causing us to be sick!?! I can't wait for the 50 degree weather that they are predicting for the weekend. I hope that they are more accurate about that forecast than about the 6 inches of snow that we didn't get while down in Eyota over the weekend.

Well you are probably wondering what any of that has to do with the title of this week's blog - Lydia through all the fever and coughing just cracks Charlie and I up with her dancing. Whenever music comes on in the car, on the television, or when we turn on the CD player she wiggles her hips, bobs up and down, and moves her arms. I sure hope that she continues to love dancing this much in October when Carissa and Ike get married.

Last thing to blog about this week is the fun that Charlie and Lydia have been having over grapes the last two Fridays that he has been home. As you can see from the picture she was enjoying herself, but daddy isn't sure that she is the best helper at this point. She likes to throw things in the wine. :)
