Merry Christmas

Traditions!?! What should our growing family start for our traditions? To start off the Holiday season, we bought an Advent wreath to help remind us about this time of waiting. We are joyously waiting for the birth of the Messiah. Speaking of birth; we welcomed Lydia Marie into our family on Feb. 8, 2008. She came into the world not like we practiced in birthing classes, but just like the Virgin Mary we felt blessed to have a healthy baby.

Back to traditions, a couple weekends ago we began another. We cut down our own Christmas tree. It was quite the adventure. Our novice approach led us to pick out a tree with a really crooked trunk. Similar to Lydia, not all things grow like expected. Though petite for her age, she is a mover and doesn’t sit still for long. She loves standing, crawling, digging in the cupboards, and chewing on everything.

We also went to visit Santa with our good friends the Johnsons and McHughs. Both have had babies in the last six months like us. It has been so much fun watching Lydia grow with them and her cousin Kyla. Speaking of Santa, we are hoping that he will bring us all new pajamas. Because we love seeing all of our families around Xmas, we have decided to have our celebration on New Year’s Day and stay in our PJs all day. Hopefully it will prove to be a fun tradition for years to come.

In closing, we have been very blessed teaching, farming and watching our daughter grow. We will continue adding traditions through out the years, but I think this is a good start.

O' Christmas Tree

Look at me mommy!! Lydia got this great chair from my cousin's girls. She loves it as you can see, but I'm not too thrilled because she likes to stand on it. Oh well, it keeps her occupied.

Dec. 6th - St.Nicholas Day

St. Nick stopped at our house with treats for all. Lydia really likes her yogurt melts.

We traveled to a tree farm this year to pick out/cut down our own Christmas tree. It was a cold day, but we all enjoyed it.

Lydia was such a great helper getting the tree into the stand :)

Saturday morning we visited Santa at the Little Saints Preschool Breakfast. Lydia enjoyed breakfast, but the verdict is still out on what she thinks of Santa.

Tis the Season

Has Thanksgiving really passed, Advent started, and Christmas break only 3 weeks away? How time flies!! Our family had so much to be thankful for that we had three celebrations over the weekend. We enjoyed spending time with my mom's family on Thurs., Charlie's family on Fri., and my dad's on Sat. Each gathering was great because it just shows how different each family can be. With my mom's side it is a guarantee that we will take a walk after eating. Lydia took a nap after eating her first thanksgiving meal. As she dreamed of turkeys and stuffing we enjoyed a walk. Then on Friday evening with Charlie's family we enjoyed playing Pfeiffer. It is pretty much a given that the cards will come out when you are gathering with the Yost family. Lydia enjoyed playing with Kyla and taking a little rest in Grandma Linda's lap. Then on Saturday night we gathered around the fire at my aunt and uncles. Lydia enjoyed playing with Stella and Spike, my cousin's two dogs, they are just her size. We even managed to take a walk on Sunday with my dad to cut some fresh greens for decorating at our house for the Christmas season.
