Hanging Out At Home

With the new addition to our family Charlie and I have been sticking close to home and enjoying every minute of it!

Charlie and Lydia have been great helpers around the house with cleaning, doing dishes, and as you can see even helping with laundry.

We enjoyed a weekend visit from Charlie's sister and her family from Chicago. Here is a picture of 5 Yost Granddaughters; Hana holding Lydia, Bella in the middle, and Jessica holding Kyla.

I turned 25 on Saturday. The Yost family helped me celebrate that evening with pizza and cake. Then on Sunday we went to my parents for dinner and yummy dessert.

On Saturday we also took Lydia for her first walk with her aunts, Rose and Amanda. The weather was beautiful and Charlie enjoyed carrying her in the baby carrier.

How Time Flies!

Almost two weeks old! How time flies when you are a new parent; I don’t know if it is the lack of sleep, feeling like I’m always feeding, or the fact that we can sit and look at Lydia for hours. Either way she is growing up too fast!!

In the last week and a half since coming home our family has enjoyed many visitors, Lydia’s first

Valentines day, lots of cat naps, and good home cooked meals from many friends and family. Lydia smiles frequently, sleeps a lot, has started to have more alert periods through out the day, her umbilical cord stump fell off today and has even surprised me with a laugh. She also prefers being on her side and has amazed us with her rolling over skills. Charlie took her in to be weighed on Monday because I was worried about her not gaining (with breast feeding you don’t know how many ounces they are taking in). To our surprise, she weighs 7 lbs. 13 oz., 7 oz. over her birth weight. Obviously she is getting something to eat.

Feel free to visit anytime, just give a call to see if we are feeding, sleeping, or just hanging out.

I am writing as a very proud daddy!

The Happy Family

It’s a girl!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! On 2/08/08 at 2:30 p.m. Lydia Marie was born. She has filled our hearts with joy and lack of sleep. The nurses said it was a busy day; a lot of baby’s were born. Memories we will be able to share with Lydia from her first few days will include being born on the busiest day at the hospital and coldest weekend of the year.
The three night stay was ok (I am not real fond of the accommodations for dads, but I wouldn’t have stayed anywhere else). It was definitely nice not being out in the cold too, although we did have to work on temperature control with such a bad wind. I moved my bed away from the window, closer to Jess and Lydia. I claim that is the reason for moving the bed, but Jess might tell you it was so she could wake me in the middle of the night. I think I got a T.V. remote thrown at me because I wasn’t waking up.
I got to celebrate my birthday in the hospital too and received the best gift of all; a little girl. I did get to go out with Brad, LuAnn, Ike, Carissa, and Daisy, Jess’s college roommate, for a few beers. LuAnn also made me my favorite; angel food cake. We celebrated with Jess and Lydia by bringing back a pizza for dinner to share with Lydia’s Great Aunts Bridget and Michelle. All the visitors were wonderful and made the stay very special. We came home on Monday and now the real fun beings. We are very happy to be home with your new addition. So give us a call and visit.
