It's Scheduled!

Charlie and I went in on Monday for our 38 week check-up and were told "Yep, the butt is still down here". With that being said, we are scheduled for a c-section on Fri. Feb. 8th at 2 p.m. We are hoping the time might be moved up if one of the other c-sections goes early because it would be nice to eat just a little bit on the 8th :) The only change in plans would be if I go into labor on my own or the baby flips between now and then. We are excited that our little bundle of joy will arrive one day before its daddies 29th birthday. Too bad they don't schedule c-sections on the weekend; then Charlie and the baby could have the same birthday! Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers. It is hard to believe that the waiting is almost over!!

Comfy in the Breech Position

Well, Baby and Mom are still healthy and smiling! We went in this morning with butterflies in our stomachs about the procedure and prospects of having the baby a few weeks earlier than expected. The whole process started with getting admitted into the hospital, getting an IV, and having then hook up heart rate monitors for the baby. After receiving a muscle relaxant, which made me very jittery, the ultrasound technician and doctor looked at the position of the baby. The doctor lubed up my belly and proceeded to push the head and butt of the baby to get it to do a front somersault. It (meaning the baby) did not like the idea and its heart rate dropped. She then tried to get it to go backwards, but it fought back. The doctor tried one last attempt with another forward roll, but we have concluded that it is just too comfy. The procedure was not as painful as I expected, but all of the emotions definitely wore mommy and daddy out.

So long story short, the baby is still in breech position. We will go in for our 38 week check-up next week and if the baby has not moved on its own then we will schedule a c-section for the following week. We thank you for all your thoughts and prayers.

Pregnancy Update

At 37 weeks the baby has found a very comfortable spot in the breech position (head up). It loves hanging out in my ribs and as Charlie has said “It’s just stubborn like it’s dad!” We will be going in on Wednesday to have an external version (procedure to turn the baby). This procedure has a 50% chance of getting the baby to turn so that it is head down and ready for a vaginal birth. If it does not work than we will schedule a c-section for the 39th week. There is the slightest chance (5%) that the baby will go into distress and need to be delivered by emergency c-section on Wednesday. We are praying for the best and hope that the baby will cooperate. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers. Also if you get an update on our blog about a new arrival, it’s not a joke this time.

Announcing the Arrival of...

Charlie and I are proud to introduce the newest member of the Yost family, our niece! Be honest, how many of you thought we were announcing the birth of our own baby?

Kyla was born on Dec. 27th to Jake and Jen, Charlie's brother and sister-in-law. She is so adorable and we are excited to have her in the family!

The Yost family still has all girls (Charlie's sister has four girls and now the fifth grandchild is another girl). Everyone has been telling us that we better have a boy. We are just looking forward to having a baby, no matter if it is a boy or girl. I was going to say that we are just looking forward to the birth of our own child, but at this point I am still apprehensive about the birth part. I know that it will be the experience of a lifetime, but won't say that I am "looking forward" to it.
